Every company has a founding story. Oryzon's is one of deliberate preparation — of choosing to build something the right way before opening the doors, rather than opening the doors and figuring it out as you go.
This is the story of how Oryzon Cold Transport went from an idea in 2025 to a formally organized, DOT-licensed, FSMA-compliant refrigerated carrier preparing to officially launch in June 2026. And why that journey matters to you as a customer.
2025: The Idea Takes Shape
The concept for Oryzon Cold Transport was born out of a straightforward observation: Houston — the fourth-largest city in the United States, a global energy hub, and one of the nation's most dynamic food and restaurant markets — was underserved by compliant, professional, right-sized refrigerated carriers.
The large national carriers focused on long-haul intermodal freight. The small owner-operators who filled the short-haul and last-mile gap often lacked the compliance infrastructure, documentation discipline, and operational consistency that sophisticated shippers actually need. There was a real gap in the market between "too big to care about your load" and "too small to be compliant."
Oryzon's founders — Michael Zamora, with a background in commercial law, and Myrna Ramirez, with a career rooted in Deloitte-trained accounting and auditing — saw an opportunity to fill that gap with a carrier built differently from the ground up.
But they were unwilling to cut corners to get to market faster. The planning phase of 2025 was spent doing it right: researching the regulatory framework, studying the competitive landscape, modeling the financial structure, and building the legal and compliance infrastructure before a single mile was driven commercially.
Early 2026: Operations Begin to Take Shape
By March 2026, preparation gave way to action. Oryzon's founding documents were officially filed with the Texas Secretary of State, formalizing ZR2M Enterprises, LLC — the parent entity — and establishing Oryzon Cold Transport, LLC as a registered series. The structure was attorney-designed from the start: a Series LLC offering legal separation of assets, institutional-grade financial controls managed by a CPA, and compliance-forward operations baked into every process.
March also marked the beginning of vendor outreach, fleet planning, and the initial build-out of the operational infrastructure that would support launch. DOT registration was pursued and obtained (US DOT #4552618, MC-1814112-C). Insurance was placed. Driver qualification and compliance systems were implemented through industry-standard platforms. The FMCSA registration process was completed.
These were not afterthoughts. They were the foundation.
Spring 2026: Partnerships Coming Together
From March through May 2026, Oryzon has been systematically building the network of vendor and third-party partnerships that will define the customer experience at launch and beyond.
Real-time temperature monitoring systems are being calibrated and integrated. Dispatch and transportation management software is being configured. Fleet telematics platforms are being deployed. Carrier relationships and fuel network access are being established. And the team — drivers, dispatchers, and support staff — is being carefully selected and onboarded.
Oryzon also assembled an advisory team with over 100 years of cumulative experience across business, logistics, finance, law, and operations. This isn't a company improvising its way to market. Every piece of the operation has been reviewed, structured, and built to last.
The website you're reading right now — with its branded fleet imagery, FSMA compliance messaging, and detailed service structure — was built and launched to begin building our digital presence and connecting with future clients even before our official operational launch date.
June 2026: Official Launch
June 2026 is Oryzon's target launch date for commercial operations. By that point, the full complement of fleet, systems, partnerships, and personnel will be in place to deliver on the promise we've been building toward for the better part of a year.
The initial focus will be on our core short-haul refrigerated lanes out of Houston — into the Texas Triangle (Dallas/Fort Worth, Austin, San Antonio), the Gulf Coast corridor (Beaumont, Lake Charles, Baton Rouge), and South Texas (Corpus Christi, McAllen, Laredo) — as well as same-day and last-mile delivery throughout Greater Houston and surrounding areas.
We will launch with FSMA-compliant operations, real-time temperature monitoring, and digital proof-of-delivery on every shipment. We will launch with documented driver training, sanitation logs, and audit-ready records. We will launch with the compliance infrastructure that most small carriers don't build until they're forced to.
Why This Matters to You
If you're a potential customer reading this, the length of this preparation period is a signal — not a warning. It means that when Oryzon pulls up to your dock, you are receiving a carrier that has been structured, documented, insured, and trained to be there. Not just a truck. A partner.
Too many shippers have learned the hard way that price-shopping refrigerated carriers without verifying compliance is a risk that doesn't pay. A rejected load, a food safety incident, or an FDA audit can cost far more than the premium charged by a compliant carrier.
Oryzon was built to be the answer to that risk — a carrier small enough to care about your load, and professional enough to protect it.
We can't wait to earn your business.
